THE NAME:
Oklahoma is a word that was made up by the native American
missionary He combined two Choctaw words, "ukla" meaning person and "humá" meaning red to form the word that first appears
in a 1866 Choctaw treaty. Oklahoma means "red person."

Dinosaur Fossils Found in Oklahoma-Acrocanthosaurus,
Apatosaurus, Epanterias, Pleurocoelus, Sauroposeidon, Tenontosaurus
Acrocanthosaurus- Acrocanthosaurus was a large,
meat-eating dinosaur. Acrocanthosaurus means "high-spined lizard." No one knows what color this, or any dinosaur, was. When
it Lived: Acrocanthosaurus lived during the early Cretaceous period, about 115-105 million years ago. Fossils: Acrocanthosaurus
fossils have been found in Oklahoma, Texas, and Utah (in the USA).
Many fossilized tracks have also been found .APATOSAURUS-The "Deceptive Lizard"A Harmless Giant-Apatosaurus lived during the
late Jurassic Period, about 157-146 million years ago. EPANTERIAS
(pronounced ee-pan-TEER-ee-as )was a huge meat-eating
dinosaur from the late Jurassic period. PLEUROCOELUS(pronounced PLOOR-oh-SEEL-us ) lived during the early Cretaceous period,
about 131-119 million years ago. This plant-eater had a long neck, long tail, bulky body, and a small, narrow head. Sauroposeidon,
a huge, long-necked sauropod, was recently found in Oklahoma, USA. It may be the biggest dinosaur yet found. The name Sauroposeidon means "Lizard
Earthquake God," because this behemoth probably shook the ground when it walked. giant plant-eater. TENONTOSAURUS
(pronounced ten-ONT-oh-SAWR-us) Tenontosaurus
(meaning "sinew lizard") was a very large (24 feet long and about 500 kg or 1 ton in weight) hypilophodontid that lived in

of Oklahoma. There are 55 distinct Indian tribes that make
the state their home, and each of these tribes has its own language. The colorful history of the state includes Indians, cowboys,
battles, oil discoveries, dust storms, settlements initiated by offers of free land, and forced resettlements of entire tribes. Oklahoma's Indian heritage is honored
in its official state seal and flag. At the center of the seal is a star, and within each of the five arms of the star are
symbols representing each of the five tribes (the "Five Civilized Tribes") that were forcefully resettled into the territory
of Oklahoma. The tribes depicted on the seal are the Creeks, the Chickasaw, the Choctaw, the Cherokee, and the Seminoles.
